.@HouseDemocrats just passed six appropriations bills that included many MFOL priorities! If approved by the Senate and signed by POTUS we'd be a few steps closer to ending gun violence! Let's break down the positives and a few places we wish the bills went further.

Thanks to congressional champions like @RepRobinKelly and @rosadelauro, and the grassroots advocacy of MFOL youth and survivors, the House approved 25 MILLION for the CDC & NIH each to research gun violence.

Our right to vote is at risk. We've been pushing for election protections at all levels of government because #VotingAccessSavesLives which is why it's great to see @HouseDemocrats increase funding to #ProtectOurVote ($6 million more than the White House is pushing for!).

🧵3/6

The ATF is crucial for identifying/investigating firearm related-crimes and firearms trafficking. We requested at least a $35 million increase in funding and @HouseDemocrats included exactly that amount!

That's #OurPower

🧵4/6

To reduce firearm suicides we must create barriers to firearm access for at-risk individuals who are a danger to themselves AND invest in mental health resources, which is why we're thrilled with @HouseDemocrats proposed $7 million increase for suicide prevention programs.

However, they INCREASED funding to police and Bureau of Prisons. While they did condition funding for police on ending racist tactics, their actions fall short of #DefundingThePolice and reimagining public safety. We urge Congress to pass the @Mvmnt4BlkLives's #BREATHAct.
