The book begins by divulging the power of a vibrant personal prayer life as exemplified by the life of Jesus Christ during his ministry on earth and goes on to dwell on the unlocking of

God’s power through practical and conscious praiseful thanksgiving.

Right from the Introduction and Prologue, the book engages the mind attentively. How strange that as Christians, we continually fail God in the school of Thanksgiving? Also, how come we often fail to emulate

Christ in tapping into the power of a deep personal prayer life? It is obvious that the devil has been busy with this assignment.

The book uses simple nuggets to focus on the points it seeks to reveal.

“There is a price to pay to go to higher levels in God, and discipline is that price”. This is quite true and often quite ignored.

“This will shock you…...Jesus always prayed alone”. Was I shocked? Yes! I felt a kick that shifted my paradigm.

#Chapter 2 introduced Thanksgiving as the power of prayer as identified in the divine order of things. Replete with several examples, it spells out the dangers of ingratitude and reinforces cautions against forgetfulness in giving all the glory back to God.

(Psalms 103:2). It also lists many of the things for which we have to be grateful and these are things we often take for granted. This phrase sticks to my memory from the chapter: “We forget when all we see is our pain…...”

#Chapters 3 provides practical guide as it dwells on a series of powerful declarations and confessions. Using poignant bible verses as anchor, these confessions are the “burst of short prayers” that ought to fill our moments as we go about at our daily activities. They provide

focus and strength for our faith. They are the bursts of energy and spiritual vitality that strengthens the Christian in the midst of the battle.

#Chapter 4 is about the what happens when the tide is turned. Sure enough, the tide turns when God moves his hand. The author has provided deep examples of God turning the tide in favour of his own even when all seems lost. The stories are re-told in simple language with a deep

insight into the dynamics of the events. The stories assume a contemporary meaning that we can easily relate to and fathom without prodding.

The final chapter is a reminder of what God still does and will do for those who live in the habit of prayer and thanksgiving.

Although man can never quantify the mercies and Grace of God from day to day, the list actually stirs the reader’s conscience to the “little” favours we often take for granted and hardly appreciate by conscious acts appreciation.
