Both on Father's side and on Mother's side, the Shri Rama Mandira are the cultural centres. There is a Sabha that manages a 14Day Celebration of Shri Rama Navami, from his birth to Pattabhisheka.
The Community takes his name, for everything. Its all his grace.

We alternated each year between Father's place and Mother's place. 12 days at one place, 2 days at the other.
Yagna, Veda Mantra Chanting, Bhajan, Hari Katha, Scholarly Lecutures, Music Performances.
All in the air. You could hear things sitting at home.

Everything about him took roots within.
His story, his personality, the devotion he brought in people, his righteousness, his valour, his friendship, love, respect, conduct, sacrifice - for everything in life there is a parallel in Rama.

An uncle of ours was a big Shri Rama Bhakt. His entire life was inspired by Rama, revolved around the lotus feet of Shri Rama.
When he passed away one sister said "Where will we get such a brother again, a Shri Rama like brother"
मर्यादा पुरुषोत्तम राम
#JaiShriRam
In the Community, he is omnipresent. A living being in one's own heart. Quietly guiding their daily life, quietly inspiring. A quiet but definite presence.
"E, did not Shri Rama also do like this" is a utterance I constantly heard from elders as a child

My favourite moments in Mother's story narration was
- Hanumantha going ahead of Rama and stopping a distraught Bharata from giving up his life at Nandigrama announcing his return
- Jatayu's death
Always brought tears

The story I read of Ramayana was Lava-Kusha in Amar Chitra Katha. You cannot fall in love with characters any better. From Vameeki to Seeta's friends to Kusha chiding Lava to the kids arresting a wonder-struck Hanumantha.
The reading journey began.

Wondered why Bollywood did not have many Ramayana based movies like Telugu and Kannada.
But whenever a villager in a Hindi movie said "Jai Ram Ji Ki", "Ram Ji Kripa" I knew this was something special.
It came from the heart
It reached other hearts

What moved me from Ramayana.
The story of Shravana Kumar. Was it chance or bad luck? or the indulgence of Dasharatha? Why so tragic? Wasnt the curse an excess?
Why Shravana Kumara in Ramayana?
Dasharatha's prowess - why did it come back to bite him?

That amazing first meeting of Rama and Hanumantha. That amazing mutual appreciation.
Hanumantha realizing that he is man for his devotion. Rama wondering if only he could have such a messenger.
It's Hanumantha who shows us that Ramnaam is bigger than Ram
