Non Motorised Transport (NMT) system is an integral part of our urban flagship missions of #AMRUT, Urban Transport & Smart Cities. It directly focuses on reducing congestion & pollution in cities, improving last mile connectivity & promoting a healthy lifestyle for citizens.

Enhanced Ease of Living, better & easy connectivity options are at the centre of NMT. Walkability, cyclability are the major modes of transport under NMT. As part of #AMRUT, mission cities have focussed on a safe & health-giving way of life for all.

In Karnataka, projects for construction & improvement of footpath & bicycle lanes have been taken up in various cities like Robertson Pet, Hospet, Tumkur & Bagalkot.
Redevelopment of Internal Lanes & development of Walkways & Altinho steps have been done in Panaji, Goa.

Cycles tracks, footpaths, side pathways have been constructed in several cities of Gujarat like Gandhidham, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Ahmedabad.
In the North East state of Sikkim, construction of footpaths, easy walkways, footover bridges have been undertaken under the NMT component.

Median dividers, mini parking systems, multi level car parking, green patch, Intelligent Traffic Signal System have been undertaken in J&K & Ladakh.
In Kerala, several footpaths, walkways, foot over bridges have been constructed in cities of Alleppey, Kollam, Kochi & Thrissur.

Till date, ₹329 crore worth of 1,007 projects have been grounded. With COVID-19, use of personal transport has increased. NMT offers better opportunity to address spacing issues & promote healthy lifestyle. We have launched #Cycle4Change Challenge to promote this in our cities.
