Prediction over the next two weeks:
- Pressure from the KEA & groups like @120Strong to not hold in-person classes amplify.
- @GovAndyBeshear will get more bold, beyond mere “recommendations” that in-person school shouldn’t happen. Eventually, @KyDeptofEd says no in-person 1/6
Remember...
1. @GovAndyBeshear has been really hammering home on more cases in young people for the last couple weeks.
2. @JColemanKY has already set up unlimited NTI days. Easy out.
3. @AndyBeshearKY is expecting & pressuring congress for bailout $, including education. 2/6
4. The KEA has stated no in-person unless positivity rates “significantly drop”, & just today positivity rates reached over 6%. Furthermore - & as an example - the Madison Co. Edu Assoc began pressuring the Madison Co. School Board to upend already voted on in-person plans. 3/6
5. Keep in mind...67,000 pediatricians represented by the National Pedatircs Assoc has described the dire need for students to get back in school. @CDCgov also has outlined how essential it is. Kids are currently being abused & neglected w/out it being known. Some are hungry. 4/6
It’ll be interesting to see this play out while @GovAndyBeshear tries to undermine the fact his mandates have only shown an INCREASE in cases & positivity rates. He’s in a squeeze, but owes his political friends big time. 5/6
It’ll also be interesting - albeit completely predictable - to see @oliviakrauth & her friends at the @courierjournal & reporters at other outlets, tow the line for @AndyBeshearKY as they usually do. Don’t expect any hard hitting questions on any of this. #KYFreedom 6/6
