I've been writing magazine and newspaper articles about sex & gender for 15+ years. My advice and reminder to all new writers: The people you're pitching are people. Get to know them.
I remember a PR agency once pitched me on a children's book about frogs. Not about sex. Not about gender. Just a general children's book.
I almost wrote the author directly to suggest they hire better PR people.
Anyone who has paid and attention to anything I've written or said publicly knows I'm very happily, ethically & politically #childfree.
As an adult survivor of child abuse, I LOVE teaching adults how to talk to children in their lives about healthy relationships, sexual and reproductive health, establishing boundaries, etc. Anything to keep kids safe.
Age appropriate books about sex that I can recommend to others? Hell yeah I keep tabs on that & I'm always searching for more! I'm just not the best person to pitch a 👉general👈 children's book to.
