An excellent speech from Michelle Obama, and one that might equally apply in countries worldwide.
She speaks of empathy, character, values, who we are, how we respect our fellow citizens and how we wish our nations to be represented.
Our ancestors struggled and fought for the freedoms and rights we enjoy today.
We do not honour their memories when elected representatives abuse trust placed in them, to exploit public offices to further their ambitions and for financial gain for themselves, family and friends.
We owe it to our ancestors to safeguard and protect the freedoms and rights that cost many their lives so that lives were not lost in vain.
Elected representatives and unelected advisers MUST be held accountable for their actions, for they are the stewards of national assets.

Every good story has a beginning, a middle and an end.
#BarackObama spoke of the origins of democracy in US although, he might equally have spoken of democracy throughout the world.
He spoke of existential crises currently facing US but, in truth these are facing countries worldwide too: COVID-19 pandemic; economy under threat; climate change; terrorism; poverty and disease.
He spoke of his hopes for the future of US, and of his friend @JoeBiden, nominee for the 46th President of the US: "He made me a better president – and he’s got the character and the experience to make us a better country."
And of his conviction that, "Along with the experience needed to get things done, Joe and @KamalaHarris have concrete policies that will turn their vision of a better, fairer, stronger country into reality."

Some say that "we cannot run from who we are, our destiny chooses us."
The end of this story of a dream for the future of the US has yet to be written and US citizens have an opportunity to write the ending of THEIR choice, on 3 November 2020.
