Welcome to Night Two of our Legislative Focus week on LGBTQ+ Rights here in Missouri! Tonight, I will be discussing why we need to finally pass MONA and the benefits it will bring to our state, and to our LGBTQ+ Missourians. Please follow along.
First off, what is MONA?
MONA seeks to update the existing Human Rights Statute to include sexual orientation and gender identity, which would protect LGBTQ people equally under the current law.
Why does it matter?
MONA will protect over 180,000 LGBTQ+ Missourians from being refused employment, housing, and public services.
There are LGBTQ+ constituents in every county and district all across Missouri.
It’s simply, the right thing to do.
It’s great for business!
In 2013, 71% of small business owners agreed that we need MONA.
Since 2011, more than 1100 businesses pledged their support for MONA.
It’s beyond time that we passed MONA in Missouri, period. As State Representative, I will stand with and support all our LGBTQ+ Missourians in voting yes for MONA, and always being an ally. #MONA #lgbtq #BeAnAlly 🏳️🌈
