the outright politicization of all of hhs, the fda, and the cdc during a pandemic that's killed over 175,000 should be a much, much bigger issue than it is nytimes.com/2020/08/25/hea…

i know it's more fun to yell about whatever dumb convention speech is going on, but i promise, you'll almost certainly forget that speech is a month

if there's no cost to doing this type of shit, then it's not only going to stay that way, but it's going to get so, so much worse

how on earth is this not a massive scandal?cnn.com/2020/08/26/pol…

holy shit! the trump administration is allegedly imposing covid testing guidelines on the cdc nytimes.com/2020/08/26/wor…

Grenell, a former Fox contributor who is speaking at the RNC tonight, is out here 1) defending new guidelines downplaying testing that were allegedly imposed on the CDC and 2) touting the new spokesperson for the FDA, a longtime right-wing hack.

They're just going to skip right past the actual reports on the CDC slowing down testing, trusting that the media won't give it blockbuster coverage with the convention and a hurricane happening, and go right to attacking people who see through it.

my god

NYT headline: CDC director walks back new testing guidelines

NYT one sentence later: "guidelines issues this week remain unchanged on the CDC website"

The longer version in the article is similarly muddled: nytimes.com/2020/08/27/wor…

It *appears* that the CDC director tried to rationalize the plainly ridiculous new testing guidelines that experts have harshly criticized, and the NYT took that rationalization as him backing down? I don't really get it.

The bad testing guidelines are still there.
