We’re trying to fight the hangover of enduring so much @GovAndyBeshear Fear Beer. We’re going to try to chug through another one of his briefings, because we love you. Bear with us as we live tweet

A #KYFreedom thread ⬇️⬇️⬇️

@LtGovColeman kicks things off. Tech guy didn’t have audio up so everyone missed her first statements.

@GovAndyBeshear announced this yesterday. It’s using taxpayer money to mitigate damages done by is policies. Money allocated to assist with bills, food, mortgage, rent, etc. it’s welfare in every sense of the word.

@LtGovColeman encourages us to vote and fill out the Census.

“Vote early and vote often.” -@LtGovColeman

Unclear if she means “often” in the upcoming election or not.

Social media feel good stuff

@GovAndyBeshear now. Says leading with @LtGovColeman the last two days is a way to “keep everyone on their toes.”

It was the legislature that kept him in his toes by hold impromptu press briefings these past two week. The one they held yesterday appears to have led Beshear to..

Committee to addressing the child care issue he’s caused (many closing, parents without childcare, etc). They should keep the pressure on him. He has an announcement next Monday he said. No details.

Note: he probably had no plan until legislature put pressure on.

690 new cases.

@GovAndyBeshear continues the pressure on schools reopening.

He says until an effective treatment or vaccine, this is the new normal.

4.64% positivity rate.

Again, he’s now selectively reporting more negative cases to try to show progress. Cases are still as high as ever.

7 new deaths: 50, 79, 83, 89, 81, 91, & 89.

Jefferson, Todd, Warren, Christian, Madison , Fayette, Scott, Bullitt, Lewis, Jackson among leading counties with cases.

Long Term Care: 529 total deaths there

@GovAndyBeshear says we are nationally recognized for our response for nursing homes. Not sure what he means.

Kentucky ranks 9th out of 50 for largest share of #COVIDー19 deaths being in long term care.

@GovAndyBeshear says college cases has ticked up.

580-ish total cases in universities.

Only two students and 4 teachers with cases. @GovAndyBeshear acts as if they are going to die.

@GovAndyBeshear says he sees in the numbers masks are working.

We do not.

@GovAndyBeshear showing a 3 year old wearing her mask in her own home.

Hope there isn’t any eventual long term health impacts of wearing a mask all the time.

@StevenStackMD taking the podium to “address a few things”. Wondering if he will address @Alvarado4Senate who we hear put the administration on blast again today during a committee meeting

@StevenStackMD acknowledging that @CDCgov has changed testing guidelines.

Prefaces his updates with excuses for why he was wrong the other day.

“A work in progress.” It reads.

@StevenStackMD not happy the guidelines recommend not getting tested without symptoms. Says he is concerned. He says instead, don’t follow @CDCgov, listen to he and @GovAndyBeshear

@GovAndyBeshear and @StevenStackMD are really concerned case counts will now go down as some schools open and sports start. That would severely disrupt their plan to eventually shutdown sports.

Yeah, we are on to you and see what you’re doing.

Today is another great day for @StevenStackMD and @GovAndyBeshear to hear that we know their data is garbage.

@StevenStackMD low key addressing @Alvarado4Senate’s criticism basically says he’s trying his best.

Not good enough, doc

Immediately references “White House document”

Note: all the data is state data. It’s not the “White Houses” data. It comes from us to them. Not vice verse

@StevenStackMD pointing out PPE reserve.

Wait, just a few days ago @GovAndyBeshear acted like supplies were drying up❓

Similar image to the field hospitals that cost millions of dollars.

@GovAndyBeshear returns. Calls @CDCgov reckless with their new guidance. Says Kentucky will keep doing its own thing.

Says keep getting tested

@d_yetter asks where he thinks the @CDCgov guidance change came from. She insinuates @realDonaldTrump led to it.

@GovAndyBeshear says he has seen reports but doesn’t know.

A question about 507 positive cases at University of Kentucky.

@GovAndyBeshear doesn’t respond with the sense of urgency that he does with public schools. Odd. Actually takes steps to underscore this information.

Money talks.

Colleges ✅
K-12 ❌

A preposterous double standard.

@GovAndyBeshear says we need more testing in response to a question about the @realDonaldTrump and the issue becoming “politicized”

@TomL_Ky_Today says a child care industry rep testified today that 40% of centers may close by November

@GovAndyBeshear says guidelines can’t be about the financial break even mark for centers. Has to be about public health. Implies rep is a lobbiest.

@GovAndyBeshear asked if he is afraid he’s causing confusion by contradicting @CDCgov

Says this decision “hurts us all.” Says it’s “goofiness.”

Question On capacity change and curfew on restaurants and bars

@GovAndyBeshear says beyond 50% is a real problem. Loves saying “White House says”.

@GovAndyBeshear says @realDonaldTrump’s more harsh than he is being

😂

@GovAndyBeshear reiterated that schools shouldn’t hide cases.

@d_yetter asks @GovAndyBeshear about criticism of data (@Alvarado4Senate )

@GovAndyBeshear says critics just don’t want to believe it. Says they don’t have data. Insists they were wrong on other things and that they are just against anything he is for.

@GovAndyBeshear asked about open records requests and the extension of time to respond during state of emergency.

@GovAndyBeshear says it may have been put in statute. If not he can do something. Will check.

Question on testing supplies

@GovAndyBeshear again blasts the the @CDCgov’s change in testing protocols.

@GovAndyBeshear calls it a day and leaves it to @CHFS_CaresforKy to close out. Beshear tells him off screen “remind them we will get through this together.”

“Yes sir” Friedlander responds.

@CHFS_CaresforKy says no “strike teams” have been sent to Long term care recently. Says he feels strong about KY response to long term care.
