You know when it says “don’t think too hard”? I usually don’t listen. Ask me about socialism. Criticism teaches more than flattery | No lists |

.@nick_brana opens the #PeoplesConvention with an overview of the argument: we need a party free from corporate interference if we want to reign in corporate greed.

Seems like a no brained to me, and many out there regardless of party affiliations.

It’s quite refreshing to see some of these film shorts portraying what the average person is really experiencing.

Not nice, clean, polished language, but the real grit and dirt of life for the majority.

@HaniehJBarnes elucidates what life is like at the other end of the US imperialist machine.

Ending endless wars is a bipartisan issue, but both parties seem to be dragging their feet. What would we expect with so much 💰 to be made?

She does an excellent job at showing how our resources are being spent killing innocent people, while more innocent people are dying because of austerity at home.

Make no mistake: our fetishism of militarism leads to fascist policies.

@grahamelwood offers some comedic relief while advocating #MarijuanaLegalization.

I think he’s right that things would be slightly less horrendous if there were a little more weed in our lives 😂

#PeoplesPartyConvention

The one and only @mrdannyglover!

“We have to be consistent... in what we really need: healthcare, jobs ...”

More interesting: “how do we look at work, and transformational work”

#PeoplesConvention

@ClimateHuman is spilling a hot dose of reality all over the #PeoplesConvention. Something sorely missing from both parties’ conventions.

“I just want to do science, I want to raise my family on a planet that’s not burning”

@amayawangeshi brings some excellent solidarity and optimism by pointing out how many people are now organizing, especially young people.

“Adults, you need to learn from us. Fight with all that you have, fight with all that you got.

#PeoplesConvention

“Capitalism can not be separated from racism”

Chris Smalls nails how interconnected our exploitation and oppression is: the media, capital, all of it.

(Personal note: we need more guillotines!)

#PeoplesConvention

Sorry, but I’m cooking dinner right now so can’t offer any odd summaries.

But #PeoplesConvention is trending so that’s great!

Also, I love hearing from actual on the ground organizers as opposed to paid representatives of some vague ideal.

Almost burnt my onions trying to listen to @ChrisLynnHedges’ great speech.

‘How can you expect people to support you when you don’t support them’ would be the best way to summarize his argument against the @DNC.

#PeoplesConvention

He’s also also the 1st to directly advocate for voting @GreenPartyUS.

#PeoplesConvention is No 2!!!

See what happens when you let normal people on the ground of a struggle speak?

I love listening to someone argue in favor of #UBI while I’m eating chicken that was past its best by date.

It really highlights the case @scottsantens is making.

#PeoplesConvention

@GovJVentura giving some great historical comparisons between now and the 60’s (19 & 18).

It’s nice to see a politician give a peak behind the curtain of how party politics eroded our diversity of choice.

We really need more parties.

#PeoplesConvention

Go figure, I finish dinner, have the time to cover the #PeoplesConvention, and they take a break 😂🤣

Hey @4aPeoplesParty,

Can we get a “Hell Yes!” option here please? 😂🤣

#PeoplesPartyConvention

@ChaseIronEyes preaches truth!

Citizenship was forced on indigenous people, and when their spirits were eroded enough and they tried playing by their masters rules, they moved the goal posts. It’s what always happens.

#PeoplesConvention

I’m not going to pretend to like @jimmy_dore, but he’s make some good arguments tonight at the #PeoplesConvention.

Obviously I’ve got bias, so that’s all I’ll say 🙃

@JerryPerezLA just gave a bad a$$ speech.

“Fvck Joe Biden” - @RealTimBlack

People definitely need more than Clyburn saying “we know Joe”.

But then again he’s got a point: we do know Joe, and it’s not very good. I really hope he proves us all wrong, but I doubt he will.

#PeoplesConvention

Entertainment versus substance.

This says a lot about twitter, and not in a good way.

#PeoplesPartyConvention

@ProudSocialist’s serenading speech is followed by a nice social democratic short film.

All the policies are wildly popular (wealth tax, M4A, cancelling student debt, etc), but are nowhere to be found amongst the two parties. 🤔😉

#PeoplesConvention

“I’m going to vote for Joe Biden [...] but I don’t think he’s going to fix anything.”
-@marwilliamson

She then goes on to point out that we don’t have a duopoly, we have a political monopoly. We have 2 shades of 1 capitalist party.

#PeoplesConvention

And then @marwilliamson made the most leftist comment of the night so far: when you’re living in pure survival mode, you can’t actually be free.

#PeoplesConvention2020

Bring on @CornelWest!

@CornelWest: “I’m not used to voting for milk toast [Biden] like that” 😂🤣

His message is deep but simple: the US is becoming more fascist, but we cant solely rely on electoral politics. ORGANIZE!!!

#PeoplesConvention

@ninaturner is 100% right: this is an amazing event showcasing how diverse the left is.
No scripts.
No pomp.
Just real people, speaking like real people.

Before she went to bed, my daughter said “they’re like us”.
I cried.
It’s beautiful.

#PeoplesConvention

“We’re going to get through 2020.
We’re going to get that fascist out of the White House.
And then we’re going to get to work!”

-@ninaturner

Now that’s how you #SlayTheDragons!
