The COVID-19 Pandemic has resulted in an unprecedented disruption of social and economic activity around the globe.
Here in our own country and state, that includes heartbreaking postponements or cancellations of some of our most celebrated traditions and milestone moments-- including longstanding events on Veterans Day.
I understand the difficult decision event organizers had to make in these challenging times, and recognizes their commitment to the health and safety of their staff, volunteers, and most importantly, our Veterans.
I appreciate the hard work and dedication of the organizers and veteran community every year to put on this parade - sometimes called the Largest Veterans Day parade west of the Mississippi.
This Veterans Day, as we reflect on the sacrifices & dedication of the brave men & women who selflessly served our country, I ask we all recommit to wearing face coverings & following social distancing guidelines in an effort to protect our Veterans as they've protected us.
I Iook forward to alternative, virtual commemorations of Veterans Day and to welcoming back larger celebrations when it is safe to do so.
