2. Mr. Paulson, the leader sources say was most responsible for facilitating Cameron Ortis's rapid rise, is the first RCMP figure to answer questions about whether the RCMP could have prevented incredible damage to Canada's standing with allies.
3. The harassment complaints against Ortis are central to Ortis's alleged criminal scheme, according to the new civil claim, because Ortis was allegedly targeting the same employees whose top secret intelligence reports, he allegedly sold or offered to Canada's enemies.

6. The lawyer for Mr. Ortis didn't respond to request for comments and questions on this story. And Mr. Paulson forcefully denied protecting Mr. Ortis in any way, or even receiving complaints about Ortis, while Paulson was RCMP commissioner.
7. “I have not seen the civil claim, I didn’t understand that I was named in it, but no matter, your sources are wrong,” Paulson wrote to Global News.
8. Another email response from Paulson to a Global News reporter reiterated “my position and the facts seem to demonstrate that these complaints (about Ortis) … all took place after I left.”
9. Paulson also objected to allegations made by sources and in the civil claim that he and other leaders were protective of Ortis, and as a result, they failed to identify and prevent “Ortis’s criminal activites and an earlier stage.”
10. “Of course I did not. I say it is irresponsible and immoral to ask a question like that and include it in a story thereby suggesting it, without some basis or some evidence,” Paulson said.
