The wife and I have been talking this evening about the good people we have had the pleasure to live around in our years out here

I have learned more about what it means to be a good Christian friend & neighbor from @Bonkuba than anyone else.

There are good people out there

Had a strong rainstorm one day and my garage began to flood. I was frantically trying to pump out what I could.

@Bonkuba came out of his house and started shoveling like it was his own house. He broke free some debris that was blocking a drainage path for me, saving my garage..

I had a really dopey dumb dog who was quite the escape artist. He would always help wrangle her and lure her back to the yard, and then do his best to fix the hole she had dug. Often we wouldn't even be home, and he would still chase down this mutt and return her home...

We would watch OU football games and UFC on his back patio. The invitation was always there.

He would get a water slide bounce house for his kids' birthdays and invite my kids over to come play and enjoy it and then send MY kids home with goodie bags...

He was always offering the use of his tools, his storm shelter, and whatever else we needed, sometimes before we even realized we needed it.

My kids all love him and his family and would watch for when they would be outside so they could come join them...

When we were gone, he would watch our house. Tell is if some sketchy people were on the block, or what was happening.

It wasnt just us either, he was like this for everyone on the street. Dependable, self sacrificing, generous and just an absolute joy of a man.

We became more than neighbors. He and his family became OUR family. The street became OUR street.

This was all on his initiative. I probably would have kept my distance forever, not wanting to bother anyone or risk much, but that's not his style, and I'm grateful for it

I would often joke with him about being a better Latter-day Saint than actual Latter-day Saints. His devotion to family and his responsibilities as a husband and father rival the very best of the men I know. Few greater examples exist to me
