The #CreekFire jumped CA-168 just south of Shaver Lake. People still in the area are unable to leave Shaver Lake due to the road conditions. @latimes @latimesphotos

Update: People are about to be escorted out of Shaver Lake, as as road conditions have reportedly become less hostile. #CreekFire

Some people waited at the Sierra Marina parking lot for much longer than I had to, and I waited for 3 hours! #CreekFire

After most of the press was escorted out, I broke off from the fire for a few hours to try and relax a little bit, before things picked up in the early hours of the morning. I returned to the #CreekFire to see it lighting of the night sky.

News photographers photograph the #CreekFire as it jumps across CA-168 in the early morning hours.

And with that, I'm out of the fire zone and about to get some rest before returning to the #CreekFire for more coverage for @latimes. Please consider supporting the journalism we do at latimes.com/subscribe
