Lt. Weedon Osborne (@USNavy) was a dentist attached to the 6th @USMC Regiment.
During the Battle of Belleau Wood, Lt. Osborne died in an effort to carry a wounded Marine to safety.
He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor & is buried at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery.
At Belleau Wood, GySgt. Fred W. Stockham noticed his wounded comrade's gas mask was inoperable.
GySgt. Stockham took off his mask and gave it to his comrade and later died from poison gas exposure.
His sacrifice earned him the Medal of Honor.
Lt. Orlando Petty was attached to the 5th @USMC Regiment at Belleau Wood.
Lt. Petty braved artillery fire & poison gas to carry wounded Marines to safety.
Despite his destroyed gas mask, Lt. Petty didn't stop treating his wounded comrades.
He was awarded the Medal of Honor.
