Due to #SavePantanal tag, this thread will show you some of the crustaceans that occur along this biome!

Macrobrachium pantanalense - which we can find in the Matogrossense Southern Pantanal! With 0,7 to 2,3 pol. in length and transparent color and it inhabits the water column of freshwater environments. It has a great economic importance for ornamental aquaculture.

Dilocarcinus pagei has a wide distribution in the central region of South America. It is important for aquatic biota, as it acts in the process of organic matter and in the trophic chain of rivers and lakes. It is worth mentioning that they're used as bait in sport fishing.

Sylviocaraus australis occurs in Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil. It can be seen in caves, tree trunks and aquatic vegetation. Like D. pagei, it is also used as bait in sport fishing.

Trichodactylus borellianus has the highest distribution compared to the others species already mentioned here. It usually inhabits roots of macrophytes, where it finds food and refuge from predators. +

It is also very important in the food chain, as it serves as food for several invertebrates.

Thanks @ABeatriz_RO for all the support 🧡

For that reason, I'd like to tag here some pages to help us by reading, sharing or just using the #SavePantanal.
