No kid is ever lunch-shamed in Greeley-Evans District 6. If they don't have lunch money, they're given the same lunch as their classmates. The unpaid student lunch debt in Colorado's 12th largest school district was $147,819. Until #HeyNext viewers got involved this week.

The Greeley-Evans school district has decided not to hound families to pay off their lunch debts right now due to the economy and the pandemic. But if the district can't collect, that money will likely have to come out of the general fund. In a high-need district, that's hard.

This week, #HeyNext's Word of Thanks microgiving campaign is helping Greeley-Evans schools' foundation @d6success pay off as much lunch debt as possible, so families don't have to worry about it hanging over them year after year. Since Wednesday, viewers have given $50,000+!

The generosity of #HeyNext viewers, who come back with $5 donations for Colorado non-profits, week-after-week, is astonishing. Here's a note from a Greeley-Evans parent:

As always, I'm matching the first fifty $5 contributions to Word of Thanks. We've knocked off $50,000 of Greeley-Evans' $147,000 student lunch debt in the last two days. If you'd like to help make an impact, you can give here: coloradogives.org/d6food4success

#HeyNext viewers have now given $600,000+ to Colorado non-profits through Word of Thanks since June. It means so much to these organizations and the Coloradans they serve. Thank you. 9news.com/article/news/l…
