#IowaMourns
On a day when eight more deaths are reported:
Hospitalizations for COVID-19 are up by 9 to 290.
Intensive care use is up by 7 to 90.
There were 50 new admissions to Iowa hospitals for COVID-19 in the last 24-hour reporting period.
This is going in the wrong direction!
Between 10 am Sept. 11 and 10 am Sept. 12, the state reported 793 new cases of coronavirus, pushing Iowa's total to 73,547.
Subtracting deaths (1,216) and "recoveries" (52,932), there are now 19,399 active cases - the 6th day in a row over 19,000 and the highest number yet!
The 793 new cases were confirmed on 5,555 tests reported (from 689,227 to 694,782), for rate of tests showing COVID-19 of 14.3%.
At 11 am, the state is scheduled to update how many Iowa kids under age 18 have tested positive, currently standing at 5,363, up 1,548 since Aug. 22.
The 77 counties where Gov. Reynolds first loosened Iowa's limited restrictions May 1 without an alternative safety plan were up 340 new cases for total of 27,363.
Five more deaths were reported for a total of 397.

Summary: 8 more dead, 50 new admissions to Iowa hospitals, 793 new confirmed cases on 5,555 tests (14.3%).
Without action, we'll have more cases and more deaths for months. Let's take 4-6 weeks (stay at home, mask up, keep distance) to stop the spread and defeat this virus.
