Here are the weekly coronavirus case and death data for Iowa, both statewide and by county, for the week of February 14-21, 2021.

For the week, Iowa reported:

100 more coronavirus deaths
286 new hospital admissions
3,475 new confirmed cases

Less bad, but still too high! The 100 deaths reported this week (Feb. 14-21) in Iowa were lowest number of deaths reported for a Sunday-to-Sunday week since Oct. 25-Nov. 1 (82 deaths).

At 14.3 deaths per day, it's still 3rd leading cause of death behind heart disease (19.7 per day) & cancer (17.7 per day).

Iowa Senate Republican Leader Jack Whitver writes: "it is impossible to legislate away the pandemic."

What a defeatist! With that attitude, no wonder over 2,000 Iowans have now died from coronavirus since the Republican majority adjourned June 14. (1/4)

thegazette.com/subject/opinio… Good public policy and leadership can stop or reduce the spread and save lives.

New Zealand has 5 coronavirus deaths per million people. Norway (like Iowa, not an island) has 65 deaths per million. In Iowa, it's 850 per million, more than 1 out of every 1,200 Iowans! (2/4)

Just heard advertisement by Ashley Hinson that brags about her efforts to help people with the coronavirus epidemic and the derecho.

Huh? Not as an Iowa state representative. She hasn't voted for anything to help people suffering from coronavirus or the derecho.

(1/4) On the derecho, the Iowa Legislature hasn't been in session, and Gov. Reynolds hasn't called a special session.

On the coronavirus, the Republican majority did not pass a single bill to slow down or stop the spread, or help people who were suffering its consequences.
