1/ On David Attenborough's #ExtinctionTheFacts we had a glimpse of US Climate Change denial lobbyist Marc Morano. I did a quick wikipedia check on him.
He founded & runs the website ClimateDepot.com which is a project of the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT)
2/ The Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT) is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization founded in 1985 that advocates for
free-market solutions to environmental issues. In 2010, nearly half of CFACT's funding came from Donors Trust,
3/ Donors Trust has been heavily funded by the Koch brothers. I'd never heard of Marc Morano before watching #ExtinctionTheFacts, but I was curious to see if he was another of the thousands of lobbyists and hundreds of politicians linked to the Koch brothers. And indeed he is.
4/ In 2018 Liz Truss told the US Cato Institute that “a thicket of regulation and control” is holding back business and called for a new “Anglo-American dream. The Cato Institute was founded as the Charles Koch Foundation in 1974 by Ed Crane, Murray Rothbard, and Charles Koch.
5/ The Koch brothers had a combined fortune of around $120bn. In 1980 David Koch (deceased 2019) ran as the vice-presidential candidate of the Libertarian party. The excerpts from the party's platform show the extremism of the Koch brothers' views.
6/ There are many places to start when trying to understand the state of modern politics in the USA and UK, but a good place to begin is with Koch brothers, their $120bn fortune, their polluting industries and their exteme libertarian agenda.
