Just finished @lara_hogan's Resilient Management and really enjoyed it! Here are some of my takeaways:
1. There are four stages a team goes through (and you can jump around depending on the situation)
- Forming
- Storming
- Norming
- Performing

2. "It takes time and energy to learn things about your teammates, to make them feel supported, and eventually, to work toward that health team state. Don't worry! You are optimizing for balance, not perfection."

lots of exceptions around management & I ❤️this intro message.

3. Lara heavily leans on the work of Paloma Media to help frame key needs in the workplace:
- Belonging
- Improvement/Progress
- Choice
- Equality/Fairness
- Predictability
- Significance

BICEPS! 💪

4. Utilize "coaching" techniques outside of "mentorship" to help further foster growth in teammates. Open questions and reflection are two great techniques to help foster growth.

5. There are these great coaching questions for you to reflect on at the end of each chapter. I really found these helpful checkpoints to make sure that I was engaging with each topic. I also want to share my responses with other teammates on my team to hear what they think!

6. There is a really great section on growing your "Voltron" aka your Support Network. I remember my younger self wondering how you get mentors and this great way how to do it!!

Overall, it's a great book for those interested in management. It's helped me frame how I want further my skills as a manager and solidified some techniques that I was kind of already doing. Check out Lara's blog for more on this topic! larahogan.me/blog/
