President Roosevelt is about to ask Congress to repeal Neutrality Act, which blocks U.S. from selling arms to Britain and France.
Lindbergh's speech is preemptive bid to prevent repeal.

The only kind of war that America in which America should take sides, Charles Lindbergh says on 15 Sept 1939, would be one to preserve white supremacy.

“These wars in Europe are not wars in which our civilization is defending itself against some Asiatic intruder,” Lindbergh says in Sept 1939. “This is not a question of banding together to defend the white race against foreign invasion.”

A year later Lindbergh would become the chief spokesman for the new America First Committee, opposed to America joining the war against Nazi Germany.
