1/7 🇪🇺This Thursday the European Parliament will vote on an important resolution: “The Cultural Recovery of Europe”
GESAC thanks @laurencefarreng & @RenewEurope, who initiated the text, which is now the result of a consensus among 6 political groups in the @Europarl_EN
2/7 🦠This is the first resolution related to culture since the outbreak of #COVID19. It comes at a time when the recovery budget is being finalised and conveys the current state of play and needs of the creative sector.
Here are some of the key takeaways:
3/7 🔵It expresses solidarity with creators, who have suffered tremendously due to the cancellation of all social events, and pays homage to their creative efforts under difficult circumstances.

4/7 🔵It asks that at least 2% of the Recovery and Resilience Facility is earmarked for cultural and creative industries (CCIs), in recognition of the important contribution CCIs make to European GDP.

5/7 🔵It calls on the @EU_Commission to cooperate with Member States so the transposition of the AVMSD, Copyright and Broadcasting Directives are unhindered and that they preserve and promote collective mechanisms that protect creators.

6/7 Should the resolution pass, it will send out a strong message that the @Europarl_EN recognises the importance of CCIs for European society and Europe's recovery efforts.
