Double standards in sustainable transport, a thread.
30kph Speed Limit: The consultation shows that 56% were against its introduction. We have to respect democracy.
Strand Road: This wasn't a proper consultation and the 66% in favour of it were just "The Cycling Lobby" anyway.
The Phoenix Park: We have to listen to the people who want to drive through the park from the suburbs. The park is for EVERYONE.
Strand Road: The people who want to cycle through here in safety are trying to DICTATE the outcome of this consultation.
30kph Speed Limit: This might slow down public transport! We can't allow it.
Bus Connects: Faster bus routes? This is a COMMUNITY, not a bus corridor!
Skeptics: But where will the traffic go?
Officials: Based on all previous experience, it will evaporate.
Skeptics: We want proof of that!
Officials: How about a trial?
Skeptics: No, not without consultation first.
Are we just presenting this in a way that suits our agenda? Maybe.
Are we just bitter about more sustainable transport solutions being obstructed? Most definitely.
Are we being a bit paranoid? Perhaps, but then again...
