El Nuevo Herald seems to purchase fake followers. We think that's a big deal. Here's why 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
One thing that disturbed us about the anti-Semitic ads in @elnuevoherald (besides the...anti-Semitism) is how it suggested the paper prioritizes ad rev over their duty to the public.
After the Herald admitted (thanks to @BecauseMiami) that it published hateful paid editorials without reading them I wanted to see what El Nuevo Herald's 500k followers had to say about the controversy.
It turns out...nothing. Not a thing. Not at all.

It is remarkable how little engagement @elnuevoherald has. An audit reveals their followers are mostly fake.
See images below and poke around their follower list and old tweets and see for yourself. Your uncle has more engagement and he's shadowbanned for posting about Qanon.
Compared to other prominent accounts, El Nuevo Herald's fake activity is staggering.
The audit tool's scale of 1-5 (5 is all fake followers), ENH is 4.2. Compare to @the_plantain (0); @BillyCorben (.1) @MiamiNewTimes (1.4) and even @MiamiHerald (1.7)
That's no accident.
Why is this a big deal? Because ENH's value is based on the size of their reach.
Typically, a newspaper reviews ads first to make sure it doesn't harm the institution, but we know they don't.
ENH is concerned with selling ads, so they inflated their numbers to inflate reach.
That makes El Nuevo Herald no better than any wannabe Insta model hocking crap for a few dollars.
But ENH and the Herald should be better than that.
If they want to be the paper of record for Miami's Spanish-speaking community they need to act like it.
