#BREAKING: Miami Mayor Francis Suarez's communications director sentenced to 6 years in federal prison for child porn after luring teen boy to city hall and groping him in the mayor's conference room, city paid boy $100,000 in taxpayer money #BecauseMiami: wsvn.com/news/local/mia…
Image Before Rene Pedrosa molested a boy in city hall, he was caught lying about prior convictions on his city application in Dec. 2018, a possible felony. Instead of being fired or prosecuted, Suarez allowed him to change his answer from no to yes and add two prior DUIs. #BecauseMiami Image

#EXCLUSIVE 🧵: @HeraldOpEd claimed they didn’t know about the arrest record of Miami District 2 special election candidate James Torres when they endorsed him, but emails from board member Isadora Rangel reveal he disclosed it to them at least 6 days before publication. /1 Three days after #BecauseMiami called them out for endorsing Torres without mentioning his arrests, the Herald ran a story about it HOURS before election day and updated their original post: “Since publication of this recommendation on 2/23, new information...has surfaced.” /2

THREAD: It took Miami resident @Rotulin 27 hours and 13 (!!!) city employees to pay a $75 fine. His Instagram story exposes this "absurd" system and, he says, shows "how full of shit @CityofMiami is." #BecauseMiami #CafecitoTalk #TechHub #HowCanIHelp /1 instagram.com/stories/highli… According to the @CityofMiami website, in order to pay this $75 fine, the resident must "request a customer number" by emailing or calling the city, which he (accurately) describes as "a painfully ineffective system." #BecauseMiami /2

El Nuevo Herald seems to purchase fake followers. We think that's a big deal. Here's why 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽

One thing that disturbed us about the anti-Semitic ads in @elnuevoherald (besides the...anti-Semitism) is how it suggested the paper prioritizes ad rev over their duty to the public. After the Herald admitted (thanks to @BecauseMiami) that it published hateful paid editorials without reading them I wanted to see what El Nuevo Herald's 500k followers had to say about the controversy.

It turns out...nothing. Not a thing. Not at all.
