Theres a joke that it's the bassist in the band that no one knows or talks about who disappears behind the singer and guitarists, but have you ever been the keyboardist?
In college I was responsible for the keyboards AND the electronic drums in my band. Everything that wasnt guitar, was me.
One evening out with friends someone suggested "we go to some guys apartment and listen to Tim's band practice tonight"...
That was MY apartment, and Tim was my bass player. They suggested we go listen to my band practice 🙁
Had another conversation with a couple of girls from class and told them about a show that weekend and asked if they were going.
"Who's playing?"
I rattled off a couple bands, amd mentioned mine..
"Oh I LOVE THEM! Heck yes I'm going if they're playing, do you know them?"...
"That's.... that's my band. I'm in that band"
"What?! No way! When did you join that band?"
"..... I started the band... it's my band... "
"What? I've been to like every show and have never seen you!"
"... Im literally responsible for everything you hear that isnt guitar..."
The drums? That's me.
Synth parts? Piano? Me.
The melody? Hooks? Me.
I wrote like 90% of everything you hear... but, it's cool I guess.
Everything that isnt guitar.
