CONFIRMED: *Four* lawmakers ousted in Delaware’s Dem primaries yesterday by progressive challengers.

One was a 42-year state Senator, who presided over that chamber.

Another strong night for the left in legislative primaries, in Biden’s state to close cycle.

Thread on each:

1/ Eric Morrison won over Rep. Jaques, a lawmaker with an anti-LGBT record who tried making an issue of Morrison’s drag performances. https://t.co/wcSB2lER1n

2/ Marie Pinkney ousted Senate President Pro Tempore David McBride, with gun control looming as a major issue.

(Read to end of thread for McBride’s past position on whipping posts as a punishment...): https://t.co/5Y0fK3a7lk

3/ Madinah Wilson-Jones ran on needing to push policy leftward in ousting Rep. Viola, & if she wins she would be the first Muslim lawmaker in Delaware.

4/ Larry Lambert, who I know the least about, was endorsed by the WFP like the three above; and he ran on supporting policies like ending cash bail, legalizing cannabis, universal pre-K, a Green New Deal, and some more: larryfordelaware.com/issues/

CODA: If they all win in November, they will likely be joined by Sarah McBride — who easily won an open primary yesterday & is now poised to become the county’s first transgender state Senator. nytimes.com/2020/09/15/us/…

Just one thing I’ll be watching:

Delaware has the northeast’s most restrictive disenfranchisement laws, and highest disenfranchisement rate.

Time to confront that in 2021.
