FINVIZ Screener Tips: Gems Before The Pump
Select "Unusual Volume" filter in the "Signal" menu at the top. The filters narrow results to stocks with above average volume, and trading just above MA200 - a reliable support/floor for easy assessment of downside risk.
"Price" & "Sector/Industry" filters can be altered to better suit your needs & market activity.
"Float" (Shares available to trade) filter is also useful. <50M is my starter. Float is like supply and demand. If supply is low & demand is high, the price will increase...
...as the float decreases. Watch out for news of public offerings, as this will dilute the float, but does create a better potential entry if the offering price is below the market value.

Example:
Another note on SEC filings - Keep an eye out for SEC Form-4 which indicates insider trading. Often times, you can find it on SEC EDGAR before it is displayed on Finviz to get ahead of the curve.
