Director FBI Wray: "...groups such as the Islamic State of Iraq and ash-Sham (“ISIS”) and al-Qaeda intend to carry out large-scale attacks in the U.S."
Director NCTC Miller: "CT pressure against al-Qa’ida has diminished its cadre of veteran leaders...[but] Leadership losses have not diminished the group’s determination to strike American and Western targets."
Miller: Al-Qaida "senior leaders continue to find safe haven in Iran..."
Miller: "AQAP continues to threaten U.S. interests, underscored by its communication with the Pensacola attacker...In Yemen...withdrawal of some CT forces have helped the group sustain some operations and territory [but] undermined by the loss of Rimi..."
Miller: In Syria, Hurras "has suffered successive losses...[which] has stuned the group's growth."
Miller: In South Asia, AQIS has "struggled to rebound" from the killing of its chief Asim Umar and al-Qaida presence in Afghanistan reduced to "a few dozen fighters."
