What is #RoshHashanah , the first Jewish holiday? (THREAD)

Rosh Hashana is the 1st day of the first month in the Hebrew calendar.
The holiday originates in the Torah and is considered a day of judgment and a day of rejoicing, when those who celebrate must receive it with festive attire, joy and the sound of trumpets.

According to the Jewish belief, on this day the person is judged according to their deeds done throughout the year and by that, God will determine how the next year that comes upon them will be like.
The people are divided into 3 categories:

1 The righteous - will live a good and long life.

2 The wicked - will receive their punishment, which is included in death.

3 The mediocre - those who live in the middle, are neither wicked nor righteous, according to their actions between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, the continuation of their fate will be decided.

On this holiday, which is all about judgment, devotion and destiny. It’s customary to face 3 witnesses and confess to vows or promises that you didn’t keep and thus resolve them.

It’s common to send greeting cards for a happy new year, including the common phrase "Gmar Hatima Tova” which means - may you sign like the righteous in the book of life for a good life and a happy whole year.

There are Jewish communities like Ashkenazi Jews and Georgian Jews who go to a water source and throw their sins there as a belief that they will sink into the depths of the abyss.

In the Seder (feast), there are about 8 foods with hidden meanings and each one is greeted with a blessing.

The “Karat” is known as Leeks, means in Hebrew cut down/exterminate and therefore the Jews bless that God will exterminate their enemies and haters, then eat the leeks.

“Selek” is known as Beets, which in Hebrew also means to get rid of/eliminate and therefore the Jews bless that the enemies and the haters will get out of their lives or will be eliminated.

On the pomegranate, they bless that they’ll do good deeds and commandments as the number of the pomegranate seeds and that good things will happen to them as many as the seeds. On the honey they bless to have a sweet new year.

The Jews then eat the great meal they have prepared, which at the end includes a variety of sweet desserts for the New sweet Year.
According to Judaism, the world is 5781 years old. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗧𝗼𝘃𝗮 ! 🍎🍯
