⚠️BLOODY bloody hell—CDC Didn’t Write Testing Guidance Published on Its Website. Bad guideline had said people without #Covid19 symptoms didn’t need to get tested for the virus (DANGEROUS!)—came from HHS officials & skipped CDC’s scientific review process. nytimes.com/2020/09/17/hea…
2) “doc that came from the top down, from the H.H.S. and the task force,” said a federal official with knowledge of the matter, referring to the White House task force on the coronavirus. “That policy does not reflect what many people at the C.D.C. feel should be the policy.”
3) Was it you Brett??? “Adm. Brett Giroir, the administration’s testing coordinator and (another) assistant secretary at HHS, said in an interview that the original draft came from CDC, but he “coordinated editing and input from scientific and medical members of the task force.”
4) Sidebar: Mike Caputo (the crazy conspiracy theory guy) was also an HHS assistant Secretary - but for public affairs. Admiral Brett Giroir is the Asst Sec for Health (!) — so he’s supposed to know public health science and not supposed to be a PR spin wizard.
5) Feeling there is some internal uproar that now all these leaks are coming out of the CDC and HHS about what happened. Sunshine is the best disinfectant.
6) “The idea that someone at H.H.S. would write guidelines and have it posted under the C.D.C. banner is absolutely chilling,” said Dr. Richard Besser, who served as acting director at the Centers for Disease Control in 2009."
7) Good reminder. Don’t kneecap your own CDC.
