1/Hi Tweeps
I've had lots of offers of help on my #ClivePalmer investigation. Thanks heaps, I'll take you up on it, once I know what we're dealing with.
I'm reading through the relevant laws & drafting arguments as I go. I won't know what I've got until I'm through reading.
2/And while I'm grateful the AEC is taking a stand, I'm not so enamoured of their recent performance that I'm willing to abandon my efforts. They may drop their action if Palmer scours up 500 members or provides evidence of such.
3/Sorry if I'm being overly cautious &/or pedantic, but if the Constitution had me scratching my head, the Electoral Act is almost as bad. It's a magistrate's job to interpret the law, but I don't want to just dump a bunch of notes on the QEC, I want to build a proper case.
4/Which is not my area of expertise. I'm not even a law student yet. I know how to structure an argument - I taught English at uni - and that's why I won't know until I've finished my research just what sort of egg the Palmersaurus has laid. (God, that's a gross image. Sorry.)
5/Hang in there; hopefully I'll have some answers later today. Thanks heaps for your kindness & encouragement, too. It means a lot. One day when all this is over we must arrange some kind of communal piss-up. Is there a location in Australia within driving distance for everyone?
6/Our cities are scattered far & wide, but the 110km/h roads certainly shorten the travel time. Once the borders reopen, we should make a real effort. I'm shit at socialising but I'd love to do this.
Anyway, back to the motherfucking Electoral Act for me. ☠️💩 #auspol #QLDvotes
