Vrata : what #vedas say?
This is a religious vow observed on a certain day,
week, month or other period, for wish fulfilment or as a means of penance . The worship of a deity is usually accompanied by restrictions
as to food and behaviour.

The Puranas prescribe certain rules and regulations for
persons performing vratas.
The Agni Purina
states ten virtues which must be practiced during a vrata .

These are forbearance, Satya ( truthfulness), daya( compassion), daan(charity), shaucha(purity of body and mind), sainyam (control on the sensory desires), Pooja ie worship of deities, homam, satisfaction
and not depriving another of his possessions.

On the day of vrata , the person has to rise early preferably in brahm mahurata, take bath and worship the deity with offerings of flowers fruit, incense, food etc.

Brahmanas should be given daan and ahara if possible. Abstinence, observing silence ( mauna ), control of anger and
passions are also recommended during the vrata-day. Feeding cows are also considered auspicious.

Simply not eating food whole day or eating phala ahar is not a vrata.😀🙏 The real vrata is to control our mind in every aspect possible thereby strengthening the same.

My take :
We can slowly add on the desired qualities while observing the vrata. Slow and steady wins the race😊
I bow at the feet of my ishta and pray for the wisdom and strength 🙏
