Quite rightly, transgender rights are already protected in law, that won’t change.
But trans pressure groups took it too far, they weren’t just asking for trans rights, they were demanding women's sex-based rights too.
Women understandably said no. /2
No fair-minded government could have ploughed on regardless.
We commend @trussliz for showing the courage and integrity to be the first minister to listen to ordinary women and not just powerful lobby groups. /3
We hope this signals a fresh start, women have been vilified for standing up for their rights, when all we want is to find a fair way forward for everyone. /4
