Bill Monning is on a podcast with @VoicesofBay, and it’s worth listening to. Pay close attention to this full hour of Monning, mostly reminiscing about local politics.
Reminder: Bill Monning remains a state senator through November 3rd.
Monning doesn’t say anything about
2/
#corruption in Monterey County. Not one mention.
And Monning says he will be in Big Sur (the federal crime scene that is the #DolanFire) today
He touts how well he works with @RepJimmyPanetta and says if @JoeBiden is elected he has a working relationship with @KamalaHarris.
3/
But he doesn’t once mention #corruption. Why?
Monning said it’s important to get @realDonaldTrump out of office (and there is broad consensus there so that’s not the hard thing to say in California) so why doesn’t Monning once mention #corruption?
In fact, every political
4/
guest who has appears with @JoeLivernois on the @VoicesofBay has left #corruption completely off the table.
It is as though Monterey County is #corruption free.
But we know it isn’t from the great reporting ‘Voices’ is doing and specifically @Calkins_Royal -

Re: C O R R U P T I O N.
Yet in the interview, Monning goes over his accomplishments (there are many) and his history with the CRLA and Monterey College of Law (a corrupt feeder school for the local bench) and his work with three governors. @Schwarzenegger , @JerryBrownGov
6/
and @GavinNewsom. Of Arnold, Monning says he was approachable but not that hands on. (In other words he didn’t do the work, he glad handed policy decisions) but @JerryBrownGov is VERY hands on, that in fact Jerry Brown didn’t run a Chief of Staff. He had three aides but
7/
no Chief of Staff. That’s remarkable because it’s looking more and more like political pieces were moved for a very sinister pardon Brown issued in his lame duck wind down.
Dave Drew.
This will end up being a big deal:
8/
Monning mentions @Laird4CASenate is running for his seat in the State Senate BUT he fails to mention the @FBISanFrancisco investigation into Laird’s political consultant - Plasha Will - who has taken enormous sums of money from Mike Bitar’s “East of Eden Cannabis” operation.
9/
Why?
Presumably @billmonning wants #corruption addressed because he wants @realDonaldTrump out and @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris in.
So why isn’t Monning talking about corruption
10/
in his home community and the ongoing @FBI investigation into multiple elected officials?
