Angwang also lied to get his clearance and tried to recruit intelligence sources for China.
Angwang is a naturalized US citizen from Tibet and he’s been spying for China since at least 2014 through the NYC PRC Consulate.
He’s been spying on Chinese citizens in New York and elsewhere using the cover of his position in NYPD’s Community Affairs division.
He also managed to get Chinese officials access to Senior NYPD officials through events.
Angwang also held a SECRET level clearance in the US Army Reserve.
