Why do some atheists from Abrahamic backgrounds get ants in their pants when I call their innate Abrahamism out? I don't use it as a pejorative necessarily, I just use it as a psychological assessment of their mindset. We're all a product of our upbringing.
I've been a disbeliever for a good two decades. I've literally gone through so many phases of disbelief myself. It starts from angry neo atheism to agnosticism and eventually in my case finding a home in my own cultural identity. Atheists from Non Hindu backgrounds don't like it.
Yeah I know I come off as an arrogant jackass sometimes. But the fact is when it comes to Hinduism I know more than these angry Neo Atheists. I call them over opinionated & under informed dummies & I don't feel bad. I call a lot of people that. If you know you won't be surprised.
And unlike them I've read their cultural material and books far more than them. Before I commented on their theology I spent hrs and hrs reading material recommended by serious people on their side (both atheists and theists). If their grouse is I have rigour so be it.
And the problem with these atheists is they think they'll nail me as an XYZ apologist. Too bad for them that I'm brutally critical of Hindu claims and many aspects of Hindutva too. But my criticism is far more informed than theirs.
They don't even know a basic fact like who coined the term Hindutva. Don't believe me? Go check out a discussion on the secular jihadists where they're making factual claims like Savarkar invented the term Hindutva. That is the level of discourse. I'm sorry I'll call you out.
When you start having discussions on India they'll use newspaper articles and anecdotes to analyze large trends about Indian society. Is that how we analyze society? Or should it be at the level of policies or serious surveys? You tell me.
When I ask them to be more rigorous they'll say that I'm the apologist. I mean how is having an informed opinion apologia? It shows the complete lack of epistemic humility on their end. I always say this, your ignorance can't be my arrogance. I am not reducing my level for you.
I've had discussions on my podcast where I've raised a pantheon of issues affecting India and Hindus. Whether it is caste, misogyny, casteist slurs, LGBTQ issues, Pashmanda Muslims, bad economic policies, FOE etc. They'll tell me I'm the apologist? Have they seen my channel?
Neo atheists are just angry because I call them Abrahamic. They can't handle a basic psycho analysis of their behavior from an outsider like me. And I don't feel apologetic about it. I stand by my words and will not take it back. They are mentally abrahamised in my opinion.
