The reaction to the PM' comment from a certain section is expected. The fact is, Dr. Manmohan Singh said what he said as far as Muslims getting first rights on our resources are concerned because he played his politics. I remember that day as a citizen, and I felt man where do we go as Hindus. The BJP is basically correcting the Overton Window, that is it. A certain lot is so used to being treated specially, whether it is their own civil laws, street power, or many other forms of Shakti pradarshan that a statement that implies "I won't let it happen and everyone will be treated the same" sounds like Oppression. This is on the Congress and its brand of politics. This is why I tell people read a political party manifesto. Read both the BJP and Congress manifesto and then decide for yourself whether Congress is the new Muslim league or not. Here is the Congress CM saying things as clear as daylight. So the Congress can play politics and get branded as liberal and secular. But the moment BJP responds, it becomes a problem.

He says he will share the references from Periyar to make his case. So let me share one quote from Periyar in a meeting on August 31, 1959:

SB 403 will be a reality soon. A moment of silence for Hindus who invested so much money in the democratic party for decades only to be gifted with a bill that literally targets them. This is a terrible argument. When cinema is used to depict British India we show white people doing bad things. No one complaints and says cinema is being used to vilify a community at large. My biggest problem with Pakistani intellectuals is that they never steelman Hindutva arguments properly. The classic case is Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy in this podcast around minute 49. I have no issues with him critiquing Hindutva. But it should be accurate.
I enjoy listening to Pakistani speakers as I tend to consume opposing views more. But I am a stickler for steelmanning everyone. That is not done by Dr. Hoodhboy here. But it is what it is.

The Shami video does not have any evidence of heckling. Unless you say a Hindu cannot utter Jai Shri Ram to a Muslim I see nothing wrong in that video. Is there bigotry in India? yes there is? But that video shows no evidence of it. Everything else is just imagination. Everyone is free to imagine anything based on their leaning. Why is @akshaykumar always singled out and taunted because he is a Canadian? We have a litany of foreign "India Experts" commenting on our nation & its affairs 24 x 7. They are allowed but how dare Akshay comment. Who said they can't rehire or won't rehire? The point was journalists and left wing progressives started the goodbye Twitter nonsense. They clearly made no sense. There are only 2 things:

Islamists say "western values aren't universal".
Indians tell Islamists even their values aren't universal.
On a side note why can't respecting LGBT rights or looking at people as individuals 1st and group members 2nd be universal?
What is so uniquely western about this? This plays right into the progressive left/Islamist right/Decolonialist Hindu worldview that wants different group-based value systems for the whole world. They actually want to stop a universal values-based framework. Because that makes them question themselves internally.

I am pro Hindutva, sympathetic to the RSS and vote for the BJP in India. I just want to put it in record for everyone in the West so that they know it when they meet me. I don't know what this Hindutva/Hindu Nationalism/RSS/BJP rubbish that goes around in the West all about. I keep trying to reach out to people and they literally have no understanding of the subject or ideology beyond certain stereotypes. Is this what goes around as "South Asian Scholarship" in the West? If this is scholarship then I am happy being unscholarly.

Leicester and the unravelling of multiculturalism

The so called Hindutva culture is not at war with modernity. Hindus on average merge with every culture they migrate to and it is evident.

The storyline repeated everytime when a white western commentator talks about India is as follows:
" I don't know much about Indian politics, BJP, RSS, or Hindutva."
And then they go on and shit on it for a good few minutes. This is a universal phenomenon. I find it funny. Imagine if someone said:
" I don't know much about American politics" and then started shitting on the Dems/Republicans for a good 30 minutes. Would they be taken seriously by the average western audiences? But we are supposed to take these white western commentators seriously?

It is very easy to burn things down and very hard to build things from the bottom up. I respect RSS because they do the latter and I have barely got any respect for social media blabbering (including myself) because we do the former. I have had the pleasure of working with the Sanghis in Maha. Their discipline, dedication, & single minded focus to achieve measurable targets is something that impacted me deeply. I try to follow their model in my own ground work that I do independently. They are inspirational.
