The media keeps saying that only guild journalists can provide the vital "context" needed for the people to understand big stories, but not a single mainstream media outlet seems interested in explaining to its audience what actually happened with Merrick Garland.

The whole notion of not confirming a justice if the Senate is held by the OPPOSING PARTY goes completely unmentioned, even though it requires only a single sentence - maybe half a dozen total, if you want to explain the reasoning behind it.

At BEST, the media settles for a simplistic "everybody is just hypocritically switching sides now that it's a GOP nominee" that isn't even worthy of a Tweet, let alone a full "news" report from a major journalism operation.

But we don't even get THAT much from most of these Masters of Context and Institutional Memory in the mainstream media, because they're just forgetting everything Dems said during the Garland debate and exclusively quoting Republicans arguing against holding hearings.

The lazy mainstream media "reporters" and pundits treat the SCOTUS affair like a square dance, everyone switching sides without a thought because the music changed. The dishonest ones just kinda forget to mention Dem hypocrisy in their deeply researched professional news reports.

Here's a story where a little context, with complete and accurate recollection of history that's only a few years old, would really help readers and viewers who aren't deeply into politics form a better understanding of an important news event.

But that's the LAST thing we'll get from the MSM. Instead, the action line is "hypocritical Republicans change their position on SCOTUS confirmation before elections," and if backed into a corner, they fall back to "LOL guess everyone changed sides, it's all just politics."

They won't even give their audience the context of pointing out that Barack Obama DID make a nomination right before an election - because the media supports Dems, and their current propaganda narrative is that Trump doesn't even have the right to choose a nominee. /end
