I bought one funko pop (my first) because it was a really cute rendition of one of my favorite characters and a few days later another one arrived that I not only don't remember ordering but remember explicitly deciding not to buy. Is this how it begins?
There's no mystery here, my name was on the invoice for the second one and I checked my order history. I definitely bought the second one while drunk on Friday.
It's the Outsider from Dishonored, which came up when I was looking at the Emily Kaldwin one. I passed on it because in a medium where everybody has black, empty eyes, the Outsider doesn't really look like the Outsider, he just looks like a generic sulky kid.
Emily is kind of the ideal funko pop in that she has a distinctive facial mask and lots of distinct accessories. She came up in searches while I was looking for her mask, actually. And I'm not (wasn't?) the kind of person who buys funko pops.
So you look at the Emily pop and it's like, "This is my terrible daughter. She's v chaotic and has tiny murders." But the Outsider... okay, if I look at him closely I can recognize the clothes. And he kind of looks like he's judging my choices, which I guess is the Outsider.
The Outsider: "So. You decided to buy ONE Funko Pop figure. And then you decided to have a glass of wine. And how EXACTLY did that turn out?"
Emily: "Hey, you got us for so cheap, you can definitely afford $47.63 for my dad."
Not sure if I can prevent worse decisions by having the Outsider guard my debit cards or my wine cabinet.
Emily: "Why not just put your debit cards in the wine cabinet? I keep the royal treasury locked up with my hookah and I've never made a bad decision in my life."
me: ...
I found a non-speculatively priced unmasked Corvo and I have ordered it, because I can feel Emily egging me on and I need his stern face alongside the Outsider's to prevent me from ordering more Funko Pops.
