1)
Several Democrat Politicians, lots of “experts on CNN, MSNBC, and others, have talked about how they want to get rid of the Electoral College.
2)
Yesterday, I heard three of them. One US Senator, one US Congressman and one News Anchor, claiming that if the Democrats can get control of the House and the Senate, they will vote to get rid of the Electoral College.
3)
Now, these people clearly fail to understand that the Electoral College is in the Constitution. A vote by the Congress cannot change the Constitution.
4)
To Get rid of the Electoral College, they would have to draft a new amendment to the Constitution, get it ratified by a 2/3rds majority of the State Legislatures, and then hold a vote in Congress where it would have to pass a 2/3rds majority of members of both houses.
5)
Now, think for a minute. Does any sane person believe that the State Legislators, or the members of Congress from smaller states, from the 45 states that would lose influence by disposing of the electoral college, would pass such an amendment?
6)
So, is it that those calling for such a change are ill-informed, or are they stupid?
Same problem with the appointment of Supreme Court Members.
7)
Yesterday I heard many “experts” saying that the Democrats could “pack the court” if Democrats can capture the Senate in November this year, and to quote Senator Schumer, “WHETHER OR NOT TRUMP WINS A SECOND TERM”
8)
PERHAPS SCHUMER SHOULD READ THE CONSTITUTION. The Democrats seem to forget that the Senate cannot nominate anyone to the Court. Only the President can do that according to the Constitution."
