Republicans prep lightning quick SCOTUS confirmation. Several GOP senators say on the record that vote will happen before Election Day and no dissent

Cramer: "no one has ever gotten up and made the case for why we should do this after the election.”

McConnell has told Republicans that they will need to be in D.C., potentially quite a bit, to win floor votes that Democrats can force

McConnell “has told us that there might be a lot of that back and forth that will require physical voting," says Sen. Hawley

One Democratic senator had a long conversation with Chairman Graham this week about timetable. This senator said there's almost no hope of getting him to pump brakes

“He and Trump and McConnell are fully committed to barreling ahead"

If GOP can pull it off, will be closest ever to Election Day, per NYT (though there have been quicker confirmations in the past)

“There’s going to be plenty of time," said Sen. Kennedy. "I’m obviously not Mitch McConnell, but I think we’ll have a vote before the election.”

So what can Dems do? Force floor votes to pull GOP off campaign trail, for one. And hope this confirmation is more like ACA repeal than Kavanaugh

Stabenow: "People across the country have 30 days to reach out to Republican members of the Senate and tell them not to do this"

Expect a ton of talk from Democrats about the pandemic -- i.e. why is SCOTUS more of a priority than recession/COVID?

"Push back, push back, push back, and say, ‘we shouldn’t be doing this. We ought to be delivering relief," D senator said of party message
