So popular social media narratives aside, it turns out that in fact there are some differences between men and women and it isn't all just a social construct. I will never understand people who decry the Army for emphasizing fitness and lethality. Rant:

There is a movement to make changes in the military that starts off being perfectly well meaning, that wants to make the force more diverse. This is a good thing, because it reduces institutional inbreeding ie: "that's the way we've always done things here." However, it comes
with significant bandwagoning and is taken to ridiculous extremes. Many political entrepreneurs seek to use the military as a vehicle to advance progressive politics. This is quite odd because it is asking the military to be the one thing that it can never be, not at war anyway.
How do woke soldiers sink a bayonet into the guts of the enemy in some god forsaken hell hole in-between lectures about sustainable energy and how it is not OK to make dick jokes anymore. It doesn't work, and rings false to anyone who has been in combat.
Worse, we're selling the public a line of bullshit. We're telling them that we can "make war cute again" that war can be inclusive and progressive. It can't. Wars are ugly and fought by assholes. Sorry folks, I don't make the rules here. I don't discount diversity but it won't
win the next global war. Killing the enemy in savage combat will. We can speak to all kinds of high minded woke politics right now, but the day the big one kicks off tens or hundreds of thousands of people will die. That day, all the progressive politics in the military
will literally evaporate over night and disappear as if they were never there in the first place because our government will be forced to prioritize victory over us feeling good about ourselves. You may have noticed that the US of A slaps down would-be hegemons and is quite
violent about it. Germany, Japan, and the USSR found that out. What I'm seeing is a lot of people, including high ranking officers, trying to sell the public a line of BS about war and killing that doesn't sit right with me and many others because we know it isn't true.
If you are a progressive, good for you. Live your truth, fight for what you believe in, but find a more viable and more responsible venue for your politics than the military. The military can protect your values, but it can never accurately reflect them and I think that's a tough
pill to swallow for some people.
