The 1st Amendment to the United States Constitution reads: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."
This foundational principle made our nation great for a long time.

It was novel at the time and its genius is observed in its benefits:
-Less domestic violence up to and including genocide
-Less likely to war with other countries
-Inclusive to everyone
-Promotes the necessary free thought for a self-governing body

Christians have attempted to seize control of our secular government since before its founding. The National Day of Prayer comes from a challenge from Billy Graham in 1952. The conservative Congress acted on in joint resolution, and Truman signed it.

I will never recognize it. Furthermore, I hold modern Republicans responsible for our currently dysfunctional, partisan government. On top of abdicating their duty and oath to support and defend The Constitution, they pander to Christian single-issue voters for votes and power.
I am neither anti-Christian, nor anti-Religion. I actually think Religion has a positive and peaceful impact on humanity.
However, countries that do not keep religion out of their government become doomed by idealogical strife.
