Now we need to look to the future. Let's all now start finding solutions.
The conflict of rights has at last been acknowledged.
It's clear that women's needs must be considered alongside trans needs.
That principle informed the decision on birth certificates. /1
Now we must look back with fresh eyes at all policies on sex and gender.
Changing rooms, prisons, sports, refuges, hospital wards.
These policies work for trans people – but do they work for women too?
If not, we must improve then so they do work for everyone./2
We're pleased to say that process has already started.
@WorldRugby and the UK Sports Councils @Sport_England @sportwales @sportscotland have been doing just that.
We commend then for starting this necessary work. /3
Government has a role to play too. Service providers need clear guidance so they can be confident about HOW to provide female-only spaces.
True female-only spaces are all but non-existent these days. Organisations have been scared off & women have lost out. /4
@trussliz @EHRC
And finally, people must stop calling women like us transphobic! Stop trying to get women sacked or cancelled.
Saying that women matter too isn't transphobic. It's not wrong. It's not bad.
Lets all start to engage with the real issues and start sorting this mess out. /5
There is lots more work to be done. Your donations help us to continue this vital work to defend women-sex based rights. So much achieved. So much more still to do.
