American politicians must already know and understand that Turkey will side with justice, peace and stability in regional crises. We will continue to stand with Azerbaijan in line with these principles in the latest escalation in the region.
Although Turkey’s position is in line with international law, some American politicians are using the latest tensions caused by Armenian attacks on Azerbaijan to increase their support from certain voting blocks and the Armenian lobby in the U.S.
It’s a disturbing trend that the US-Turkey relationship is being utilized in a presidential campaign season. Especially those who care about international organizations like NATO must avoid confronting a NATO ally in such a careless manner.
Turkey has always promoted peace and stability in the region while protecting its national interests. This is true for the recent flare up between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The heart of the problem is the decades-old Armenian occupation of lands that belong to Azerbaijan. If the US politicians want to be constructive, they must pressure Armenia to end this occupation and stop making one-sided & prejudiced statements.
This kind of treatment of Turkey will not prevent us from standing with our brothers and sisters in Azerbaijan all the while pushing for a resolution of the conflict in the international arena. Responsible leaders must join our efforts.
