It is sad to see U.S. Congress members and Administration officials perpetuate one-sided views of Türkiye’s policies. Skewed and deeply flawed descriptions of our government’s policies and approaches have, unfortunately, become a staple of U.S. Congressional hearings. Let us set the record straight, @SenatorMenendez. Türkiye does not violate other countries’ territorial waters or air space. Some of our neighbors have engaged in this type of behavior and we have always responded appropriately. We will not allow violation of our sovereignty.

Today, President Erdogan continued to visit the affected region’s cities including Gaziantep, Osmaniye and Kilis. As he underlined, Monday’s earthquakes have been the worst ones in this region in modern history. The death toll has unfortunately surpassed 17,000 with more than 71,000 injured and 6,444 buildings collapsed. Once again, our government sends our most heartfelt condolences to our citizens. We are fully mobilized and working around the clock to provide aid to the region.

President Erdogan visited the region affected by the earthquake yesterday. His visit included Kahramanmaraş, Pazarcık, Hatay, İskenderun and Adana. He will continue his visits today to the other regions affected by the earthquake. During his visit, President Erdoğan expressed his unshaken belief in our people’s resilience in the face of this historic calamity just like they have endured other disasters in the past.

Unfortunately, a powerful earthquake has hit our cities in southeastern Türkiye. Our government has immediately started damage assessment and rescue operations. Türkiye under our President Erdogan’s leadership showed once again the importance of persistent diplomacy in confronting challenges facing the international community. The deal signed today will ease the global food crisis by allowing much-needed grain exports. As President Erdogan indicated, this agreement will prevent famine and save lives around the world. We worked closely with Ukrainian and Russian sides as well as the UN to broker this deal, which shows our commitment to address global challenges through diplomacy.

One thing is common about the states that accuse our nation of so-called “genocide”: They all incited violence and sponsored terror groups against the Ottoman Empire in its last years. These nations planned to instill hatred among various ethnic and religious groups within the Ottoman Empire but to no avail. Their efforts were meant to create internal divisions to bring down the empire from within.

Türkiye continues to assume an active role in the resolution of global crises and ending regional conflicts. Türkiye always seeks to provide a roadmap toward building a sustainable global system in the service of peace and stability. Our country under the leadership of @RTErdogan is a stabilizing power in its region and around the world. In line with this vision, Türkiye is once again doing everything in its power to end the Russia-Ukraine war through effective diplomacy.

We are witnessing yet another war in our region. President Erdogan has offered to mediate between Russia and Ukraine as we have strong relations with both countries. He also called for a unified stance on the part of the allies. As Türkiye, we have done everything we can to prevent this at the diplomatic level. Our calls to reform the UN system have fallen on deaf ears and we have seen the dire consequences in this latest crisis. This war could have been prevented if our calls were heeded.

The U.S. statement about our President Erdogan’s remarks on the Israeli violence against Palestinian civilians is absolutely unacceptable. Those who do not have the courage and decency to condemn the killing of children have no moral standing to lecture anyone. The attempt to stain our courageous and outspoken leader’s struggle with a despicable charge of anti-Semitism is appalling. It is a cowardly statement to divert the international attention away from Israel’s crimes against humanity.

French President Macron’s anti-Muslim agenda is bearing fruit! Charlie Hebdo just published a series of so-called cartoons full of despicable images purportedly of our President. We condemn this most disgusting effort by this publication to spread its cultural racism and hatred. The so-called caricatures are loathsome and they are devoid of any real sense of human decency. It’s clearly the product of a xenophobic, Islamophobic, and intolerant cultural environment the French leadership seems to want for their country.

President Macron’s recent anti-Islam rhetoric is yet another example of a desperate European politician vying for relevance. His flailing attempt to assume leadership in Europe is driving his promotion of Islamophobia, xenophobia, and his attacks on our President Erdogan. Macron is not simply discriminating against Muslims in his own country and in Europe. He is doing this for a political purpose, trying to instrumentalize fears and ignorance. Macron is following the old Fascist playbook that targeted Jews in Europe in this manner.

American politicians must already know and understand that Turkey will side with justice, peace and stability in regional crises. We will continue to stand with Azerbaijan in line with these principles in the latest escalation in the region. Although Turkey’s position is in line with international law, some American politicians are using the latest tensions caused by Armenian attacks on Azerbaijan to increase their support from certain voting blocks and the Armenian lobby in the U.S.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Azerbaijan’s martyrs to date. We offer our condolences to their families and our brothers and sisters in Azerbaijan. We also wish a speedy recovery to Azerbaijan’s injured citizens. Armenia’s aggression is a clear violation of the Geneva Conventions. The world must know that Azerbaijan merely seeks to ensure the safety of its civilian population near the frontline and to liberate its occupied lands.

Ermenistan’ın saldırıları sonucunda bugüne dek hayatlarını kaybeden Azerbaycanlı şehit kardeşlerimize Allah’tan rahmet, yakınlarına ve kardeş Azerbaycan halkına başsağlığı diliyor, yaralı Azerbaycan vatandaşlarına da Allah’tan şifa niyaz ediyoruz. Ermenistan’ın saldırgan tutumu Cenevre Sözleşmelerinin açık ihlalidir. Dünya kamuoyu şunu çok iyi bilmelidir ki, Azerbaycan’ın amacı cephe hattında yaşayan sivil halkın güvenliğini sağlamak ve işgal altındaki topraklarını kurtarmaktır.

We will always stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters in Azerbaijan against all forms of aggression. Armenia must take this into account in their calculations before launching their belligerent attacks. War and instability will not benefit this region. The international community is once again silent in the face of Armenian aggression. Decades of inaction and complicity with the illegal occupation have emboldened the Armenian side. The current conflict shows this situation is unsustainable.

Question for @SpeakerPelosi:

When was the last time that there was no peaceful transfer of power in Turkey – with the exception of military coups?

And we remember who supported those attacks against Turkish democracy, too. In Speaker Pelosi’s careless remarks, we see the reflection of pervasive misconceptions about Turkey among US politicians.

Turkey has centuries of experience with modern constitutional system and Turkish democracy is robust as ever because of this history.
