@jbobmal @_Almaqah @jbouie Oh, we’re pretending like white liberals don’t seek out segregated neighborhoods and schools as a rule?

@_Almaqah @jbouie Are all these white people in these comments clutching their pearls and dunking on this lady living in mostly Black/Latino neighborhoods? Sending their kids to schools where the kids are in the minority?

Or are yall making the same choices that white people make everywhere?

@_Almaqah @jbouie Where this lady messed up is she didn’t know she was supposed to not say it.

She didn’t say “well, we were looking To buy a home in a neighborhood/suburb with a good school” or whatever white people say whenever they don’t want to say they want to live in a white neighborhood.

@_Almaqah @jbouie Blue wave/resistance Twitter is useless, my god

@_Almaqah @jbouie basically.

@_Almaqah @jbouie these people have been benefitting from and practicing white supremacy their whole lives and somehow think that this all began in 2016

this is why we should have little faith in "anti-racism" as it relates to Dem party identification

as ideological and moral commitments go, this doesn't really seem to extend much deeper than generalized anti-Trump sentiment. It's a convenient cudgel and/or a way for white Dems demarcate themselves for Republicans, even if they're making the same choices

Trump's crudeness makes racism legible to them, which is part of it. He doesn't bother with their euphemisms. That's a part of it.

but until 2020, "they didn't know how bad it was" — in the most gracious, generous reading — bc they were opting for the same comprehensive racial segregation and opting into the same beneficial white supremacist arrangements of their supposed ideological opponents

"How could I have known that Black people were being harassed, terrorized, maimed, and killed by armed agents of the state!"

got BLM flags in your yard in an all-white neighborhood

if you don't get

i still acutely remember how many people were upset when i pointed out that Philly's Quaker schools — ultra-expensive privates — were effectively segregation academies in the North

"Not MY white, $35,000-a-year Friends school! Quakers were abolitionists!"

🙄

useless.
